Eye troubles are a common cause of concern for many, especially as we start to see the signs of ageing. Eyes are one of the first things people notice when they look at us so it can, understandably, be a cause of anxiety for anyone who feels self conscious about this prominent feature. We’d like to help you identify your concerns, learn more about them and hopefully improve their appearance and your confidence.

There are four main under eye skin care concerns that we come across:

  • Puffiness
  • Dark Circles
  • Lines
  • Hollows

Eye Puffiness

Puffiness is caused by dehydration and toxins building up in the skin. You can improve the appearance of puffy eyes by using a hydrating eye cream, like Alumineye. You would use this morning and night, after cleansing your face, before you apply your SPF. Alumineye contains anti-aging peptides including the exclusive to AlumierMD MATRIXYL® Synthe’6®.

Dark circles Under Eyes

Dark circles are usually genetic but can also occur due to sun damage and dehydration. One thing that can help with this is a Retinol eye gel. The AlumierMD Retinol eye gel encourages cell renewal to improve the appearance of skin, you would apply this at night. Alumineye is another helpful product that could help to even the appearance of dark circles as it contains light-reflecting and soft-focus ingredients to immediately lighten the area.

Lines and Wrinkles

Similarly to dark circles, genetics are a key factor when it comes to lines and wrinkles, however these can also be brought on by dehydration and of course, general ageing will affect these. To help with lines you could use Alumineye in the morning and retinol eye gel in the evening. Crows feet and laughter lines can also be treated with botox injections.

Hollows Under Eyes

Natural ageing can cause hollows under the eyes as the tissue and fat pads start breaking down. Unfortunately, there are no creams or facials that can improve hollows, however there is still help at hand in the form of a tear trough dermal filler treatment.

Top Tips:

  • Always work from the outside of your eye inwards when applying creams or removing makeup.
  • For the best results, if you do choose to go down the route of injectables (botox or filler) you will still need to maintain a good skin care routine and use products as well.
  • Make sure you are wearing your spf under your eyes and on your eye lids to avoid sun damage.
  • Looking after your general health, eating well and drinking plenty of water are also very important.

AlumierMD® Retinol Eye Gel

Retinol Eye Gel is especially designed for the delicate under eye area and contains a retinol that firms, tightens and strengthens the skin. Alumier have also added soothing and hydrating ingredients like allantoin, niacinamide and bisabolol. Alumier products are 100% vegan and cruelty free. 0.1% microencapsulated retinol: a vitamin A derivative and antioxidant that strengthens skin, improves elasticity and cell turnover. As the retinol has been encapsulated this allows for a slow release into the skin overnight, which minimises side effects like irritation.
